wrinkles

A wrinkle is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes, loss of body mass, or temporarily, as the result of prolonged immersion in water. Age wrinkling in the skin is promoted by habitual facial expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration, and various other factors.

Causes

Age

As you get older, your skin naturally becomes less elastic and more fragile. The decrease in production of natural oils causes your skin to be drier and appeared more wrinkled. Fat in the deeper layers of your skin, which gives the skin a plump appearance, starts to diminish. This causes skin to loosen and become saggy and lines and crevices become more prominent.

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light

Ultraviolet radiation greatly speeds up the natural aging process and is the primary cause of early wrinkling. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin’s connective tissue — collagen and elastin fibers, which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis). Without the supportive connective tissue, your skin loses its strength and flexibility. As a result, skin begins to sag and wrinkle prematurely.

Smoking

Smoking affects the blood supply to your skin, hence accelerates the normal aging process and contributing to wrinkles.

Repeated facial expressions

Facial movements and expressions, such as squinting or smiling, lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin. And as skin ages, it loses its flexibility and is no longer able to spring back in place. These grooves then become permanent features on your face.

Gender

Women tend to develop more wrinkles around their mouths (perioral) than men do. That may be due to women have fewer sweat glands and glands that secrete an oily matter known as sebum (sebaceous glands) to lubricate the skin and fewer blood vessels in this area.

Poor nutrition

Nutritional deficiencies are believed to contribute to aging of skin.

Treatments

Wrinkle Injection

Wrinkle injection can ‘paralyze’ muscles that produce the “frown lines” on the forehead, fine lines around the eyes, and other wrinkles. Improvement lasts several months and must be repeated to sustain improvement. Injected properly, it is quite safe; the muscle poison does not spread through the body to do damage elsewhere.

Laser resurfacing

MicroLaserPeel removes a thin layer of old skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness.

Fractional Laser

Fractional Laser work through a modification of traditional laser resurfacing. Treatments affect not the whole skin but instead only evenly spaced spots surrounded by undamaged skin. Healing is much faster than traditional resurfacing, with less “downtime” afterward. Several treatments are needed to achieve full benefit.

Non-ablative laser resurfacing

RevLite laser stimulates collagen synthesis under the skin without peeling or damaging the epidermis. Studies and clinical experience suggest that such procedures can improve fine wrinkles, though not as much as laser resurfacing. Several treatments may be necessary. These procedures are almost painless and there is little or no redness, peeling, or downtime afterward.

Thermage Facelift

Thermage uses unique radiofrequency (RF) technology to safely heat the deep layers of your skin. This deep heating stimulates the body’s natural skin renewal process, which helps tighten existing collagen and form new collagen. Over time, sagging or wrinkled skin is replaced with smoother, tighter skin; improved tone and texture; and an overall younger looking appearance.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injected into the skin to increase volume and flatten wrinkles and folds. There are many types of dermal filler and one of the popular ones are hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite because their effect can last six to nine months or even longer.

Microdermabrasion

Aqua ST System is the lastest microdermabrasion technology that provides both non-invasive exfoliation and delivery of topical solutions. It safely and painlessly cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates the skin. Leaving skin soft and silky without complications and discomfort. Constant treatments will improve skin texture while it helps to prevent fine lines.
