Open Pores / Rough Skin Texture
What Causes Open Pores?
We have pores all over our body, but the ones on our face are the real problem makers. Large pores tend to appear on oily skin as the sebum and dirt collect, causing your skin to swell and pores to appear larger than usual. Other than genetics, aging is another factor, as the skin loses its elasticity, which may cause pores to look bigger. The sun may also cause large pores to form as the skin thickens, resulting in additional skin cells forming around the edges of the pores which stretch them out.
We may not able to stop aging or change our genetics, but we can work with you to create a personalised treatment to help reduce pore’s size. Depending on the severity, we have a range of treatments available. Some pores have been left untreated for years and some pores has been stretched with a build-up of dead skin and oils, a combination of treatments may be required.
What Exactly Is Skin Texture?
Skin texture refers to your skin’s surface condition. Good skin texture is soft and smooth, well hydrated with firm collagen and elastin support. Uneven skin texture is rough, coarse and dry. Uneven skin texture not only feels unpleasant, it makes skin look dull. In addition, it makes it hard to even apply cosmetics smoothly.
What Causes Rough Skin Texture?
Skin should be soft with a smooth and even texture, but its not uncommon to have skin that feels coarse and rough. Sometimes, this is due to specific skin problems such as acne or the result of using the wrong skin care products and poor exfoliation. Sun damage contributes to uneven skin texture as well. Sun exposure causes the breakdown of collagen and elastin that gives skin its smooth texture and resiliency. Aging is another common cause of irregular skin texture. With aging, surface skin cells aren’t shed as rapidly. This causes dead skin cells to build up and leading to skin that feels rough and has a dull appearance. Dry skin that lacks moisture also feels less smooth to the touch.
